2020 Gift Guide

2020 Gift Guide

I work in partnership with other incredible small businesses all year long, and if there's ever been a year to brag on these guys, it's 2020. So I'm sticking to what I know and curating a small list of gift ideas with things that have gotten me through this year: coffee, family, surf, and of course, sweet Hawai'i nei.

First up...

A Coffee Lover's Dream

Big Island Coffee Roasters/Nick Kuchar Miir Mug Gift Idea

If there's one thing that HASN'T stopped in 2020 it's coffee drinking. I doubled down on making great coffee at home and the Kona Bloom from Big Island Coffee Roasters is my favorite. Pair it with the custom Miir mug for happy mornings.

100% Kona Bloom Coffee ($32) | Available here.
Kailua Miir 12 oz. Camp Mug ($30) | Available here.

For Extra Sunshine All Year Long

June Shine Hard Kombucha Subscription/Nick Kuchar Sunset Beach Print

For the golden boy or golden gal in your life. The JuneShine Hard Kombucha is a hands-down favorite (heck, we've got a whole cooler of it in the shop). And since we all gave up going to the grocery store this year, I'd recommend the subscription so it lands like Christmas morning on their door step every month. Match it with the print the can artwork is based off of for the perfect present.

Only available in select states.
You can also pair the Honey Ginger Lemon flavor with the Ala Moana Beach Park print.

JuneShine Subscription ($26.99/month) | Available here.
Sunset Beach Wahine Print ($25) | Available here.

For a Night Out

Kahala x Nick Kuchar Aloha Shirt/Mud Hen Water Gift Card

In a year where we've changed from our sleep sweats to our work sweats and back again, a new aloha shirt and a gift card for a night out is just what the doctor ordered. And if you're local, I'd highly recommend a gift card to Ed Kenney's Mud Hen Water in Kaimukī.

Kahala x Nick Kuchar Mauka Aloha Shirt ($88) | Available here.
Mud Hen Water Gift Card | Available here.

Surf Check Starter Pack

Surfer Gift Ideas: Distil Union Sunglasses/Party Wave Hat

My go-to's for a killer surf check are these Distil Union sunglasses which are super comfortable and come with built-in magnets, so I can clip them to my shirt and not lose them if I'm wrangling kiddos or picking up my board. Pair it with the Party Wave snapback and you've got a solid gift for any surfer.

Distil Union Folly Sunglasses ($60) | Available here.
Let's Party Wave Snapback ($30) | Available here.

Got Groms?

Little Hands Sunscreen/Pono Kids Shirt

We sure do! And we couldn't go without the Little Hands Sunscreen. A local brand, this sunscreen is safe for kids and safe for our oceans. For parent's sake, I'd recommend gifting the subscription and snagging a Pono Baseball tee for the keiki.

Little Hands Sunscreen Subscription ($30/month) | Available here.
Kids Pono Baseball Tee ($30) | Available here.

Baby on the Wave

Matt Allen Children's Book/Nick Kuchar Alphabet Surf Prints

Another fun one for parents and kids. Surf your way through life with Mop, a little surfer who learns that the lessons he's learned about surfing (like letting the bad waves go by and riding the good ones) can be applied to life as well. Illustrated by fellow artist Matt Allen, this one is a favorite in our house. Tie it right in with the limited edition Alphabet Surf Spot Screen Print and you're good to go.

Mop Rides the Waves of Life Book ($16.95) | Available here.
Alphabet Surf Spots ($50 for one, $150 for all three) | Available here.

Sweat Pack

Hawaiian Islands Miir Water Bottle/Surfer Towel

For the gym rat with a soft spot for the Hawaiian Islands, I'd recommend this power duo: a vacuum insulated 32 oz. Miir Water Bottle and the ultra-absorbent Surfer Towel, both with custom Hawaiian Islands artwork by yours truly.

Hawaiian Islands Miir 32 oz. Water Bottle ($50) | Available here.
Alphabet Surf Spots ($45) | Available here.
